Take to the skies and soar like a bird in this intermediate arm balance & inversion workshop
Mastering arm balances and inversions requires a much more intelligent approach than just throwing yourself upside down to 'conquer your fear', but so often requires considerably less physical strength or flexibility than we expect. To advance our inversions (headstand, forearm balance or handstand) we must apply key yogic principles as well as practice intelligent dynamic technique (vinyasa). The shoulder complex is not specifically designed to bare our body weight (unlike our hip joint) so, being upside down is an art that we must understand before we can express freely and safely.
This workshop will recap the basic principles of flight and gradually work towards breaking through the fear of inverting away from the wall. We will play upside down and defy gravity by learning the mechanics and physiology of inversion, deceleration and dynamic transitions.
This workshop is not for beginners. Students should feel relatively confident in crow pose (bakasana) or have attended 'Flight School Foundations' (beginners core strength and arm balance workshop).
